”Ynglingagatan 1” was a non-profit gallery active from the years 1992 - 2000 and situated in the center of Stockholm. It was administered, programmed and maintained by it’s twenty-four members, amongst them the artist group “swe.de” consisting of emerging artists in the beginning of their carriers. “Ynglingagatan 1” was one of it’s first to show new international contemporary art in Sweden at that time. The aim was to create a meeting place and an atmosphere in which dialogue and discussion were possible for international and Swedish artists. The international artists that were exhibiting at ”Ynglingagatan 1” were, amongst others: Lily van der Stokker, Sue Williams, Raymond Pettibon, Takashi Murakami, Philippe Parreno, Chris Burden, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster and Pierre Huyghe, and the swe.de artists: Johanna Billing, Markus Degerman, Ingrid Eriksson, Peter Geschwind, Carina Gunnars, Erla S. Haraldsdóttir, Karin Johnson, Anna Kindgren, Gunilla Klingberg, Bo Melin, Bella Rune and Christine Ödlund.
